John vs TTC - Week 3

Someone must be taking no prisoners this week, because someone loses this battle!

John vs Jacob - Week 3

A bout which may be as legendary the the pokemon contained therein?

A New Strong Pokemon

Last week and onwards' battles will be including pokemon from previous generation, and thus may see some banning.

This week, for example, it has been decided that Ho-oh will be moved out of standard play.

John vs Kevin - Week 2

In another short bout, Kevin battles John.

Jacob vs TTC - Week 2

Jacob battles TTC in a rather short contest.

Highlighted Pokemon of the Week: Whimsicott

This week, we'll be taking a closer look at John's Whimsicott.

Stats and Attributes
Nature: Timid
Ability: Prankster (Status move gain +1 priority)
EV Spread: 252 HP/252 Speed/4 Sp Atk
Item: Choice Scarf
Moveset: Giga Drain/Switcheroo/Stun Spore/Trick Room

Analysis
This set is designed as a lead, though strictly not a suicide lead. It comes into the game with many options, such as setting up trick room for another pokemon, stunning the opponent's leads, or, most importantly, switching items with the opponent's lead, possibly exchanging its choice scarf for a focus band. This debilitates the other pokemon, forcing a switch, or allowing you an easy switch. It should be noted that since trick room has a priority of -7, prankster still does not allow this move to go first.

Should it accomplish its goal as a lead, this Whimsicott can come back later to cause further frustration, by saving it scarf switcheroo for a later pokemon, spreading paralysis about, or helping to maintain trick room on a team that relies upon it.

Speed is invested in for obvious reasons, allowing it to surpass other Whimsicott it faces, and giving it what advantage it can have over other leads, such as Roserade, should hurricane be run over giga drain. I ran giga drain because it allows Whimsicott to switch in on resisted moves (the same reason for the HP investment), and hopefully regenerate some of it back.

Updated Rules for the Coming Weeks

Another week has passed, and now we will be able to use pokemon transferred over. For the coming week, three pokemon on the team must be fifth generation pokemon. After this week, there will be no required amount of fifth gen pokemon per team.

Nothing yet has been removed from or added to standard play, though Kyurem came close to moving down.
